The Classic Sofa Archive 1.0, Atelier Limn
There are design showrooms that invite one to return again and again. Sometimes it is because a new display awaits; sometimes, simply because the space itself possesses a mesmerising charm. Atelier Limn, the architecture and design studio based in Shanghai and Wenzhou, manages to achieve both.
Occupying an open-plan gallery space where natural light gently filters through translucent shades, Atelier Limn’s showroom is always in a state of metamorphosis. Large wooden panels operate as flexible doorways and walls, dividing the vast space into individual yet interconnected rooms. Across the studio’s changing displays throughout the year, furniture, artworks, and documents come together to tell stories of how the language of modern design engages with classical ideas and raw materials.
